A one day music festival and conference aimed at connecting people outside of major cities to the UK Music industry
Route is excited to announce the first edition of 'Excursions' featuring live music from Connie Constance, Sam Akpro, Trout, Home Counties & more.
Taking place at one of the UK's most loved independent grassroots music venues, Bedford Esquires, the event will bring industry professionals and artists together for an exciting day of talks, workshops and live music with a focus on how we can grow and support music scenes and industry outside of London.
Split across three live rooms and an outdoor stage, the day-long event will feature local artists, food vendors and an afternoon of industry talks followed by a live show with rising artists in the 300 cap venue.
During the day, guest speakers from the likes of End of The Road Festival, FORM and ATC Live will join local industry workers and artists to find solutions to the issues music scenes are facing locally and offer tips and advice for those wanting to develop a career in music.
Expect live music from Sam Akrpo, Home Counties, The Itch, Balter and more, plus special guest DJs and street food stalls.
The event will culminate with an evening show headlined by singer-songwriter Connie Constance with support from Trout and Low Girl.
Situated 46 miles north of London with a population of over 173,000, Bedford is a largely untapped market in the UK touring circuit. Route's plan is to showcase this town as a viable place for grassroots music scenes to develop and to act as an example for how music venues can successfully run outside of major cities.
The event follows on from our Youth Music funded scheme that allowed us to place three young people from low income backgrounds and living outside of London in work placements at ATC, End of The Road and FORM. The event will become a yearly fixture and will allow the young people on our scheme to put the skills they've learned across the year into practice by helping us develop and produce the event.
