Boy  Harsher Route Mix

Savannah, Georgia duo Boy Harsher head for these shores next month, playing material from their forthcoming Country Girl EP live at The Shacklewell Arms.

Now based in Massachusetts, Jae Matthews and Gus Muller's project began life in 2014 under the name Teen Dreamz based on short stories written and read by Matthews then live scored by Muller. Boy Harsher then emerged as the beats became more danceable.

Their music can feel at times intensely emotionally and at others strikingly distant, flitting seamlessly between the realms of euphoric synth pop to pulsating robotic industrial coldwave.

The audible tones are just one layer of a self-described multi-media project. The band take cues from their experience within film studies to create an aesthetically intimate and immersive live performance.

Country Girl will be released on Friday 13 October and is available via bandcamp. In anticipation of that record they were kind enough to create us a mixtape full of their influences and contemporaries featuring the likes of Carla Dal Forno, Yves Tumor and Not Waving.

Tickets for their show at The Shacklewell Arms on Monday 27 November are available here.
